They now have these bags by Reynolds that go in your slow cooker where once the food is done you can throw the bag away and put away the crock pot. Well I am not sure if I believe they work or not so I have decided its time to try them out. For dinner tonight we will have a pork roast. I made a dry rub with garlic powder, blackened seasoning, and seasoning salt and set it in broth for a slow cook of 10 hours. I will let you know if they work. I was able to pick them up at target for $0.49 so if they don't work I won't be out much.
For a side I made scratch potatoes the other night so we will be reusing those. I made a lot so we could use them in multiple meals. They are super easy to make. Just peal your taters, boil them till soft them mash with butter and milk until you get the taste and consistency you want. Of course we will have a salad also. Man is it dinner yet?

True Grit and being undecided
So being the wonderful wife that I am I went with my husband to see True Grit. I was not a huge fan of the original. Not to say it was bad because I would never say such things about the duke. The new version of True Grit was good in its own right. I loved the girl who played Maddie Ross. She was perfect. Even her facial expressions were perfect however a lot of the random people in the movie along their journey were not so great and it kind of took away from the movie. If you are in love with the original the new version will not change anything. Usually I get disappointed with a remake but for once I think they may have gotten it right.
Go see it and enjoy yourself on a nice date.

A great way to use free samples
If you are anything like me you love free samples. For a minute of my time I can get something for free that I can use. I follow two sites religiously for freebies. The first is Allyou.com it is a magazine that offers a lead on a freebie everyday. The other that I follow is absurdlycool.com which has daily freebies submitted by people and rated to whether or not they are worth it.
I have been doing this for years and after a while they add up. I have plenty for travel or if I become really hard up. The rest I have started collecting in bags and when I have at least 5 bags I am going to take them down to the local womens shelter. I am sure they could use all the free shampoo, body wash, and lotion and feminine products that I get for free and then they won't be wasted. So if you start and find yourself overwhelmed then send them to a local shelter where they could really use them!

The Day after Christmas
So many of us will wake up today with the day off and gift cards to spend. Just be sure that you are using them to the best of their advantage. Remember to never shop online without finding a coupon code first. retailmenot is a great site to find coupon codes for most places. Also check for printable coupons to take to your brick and mortar store.
If you sign up for most stores emails you can get coupons also. Be sure to pick up todays Sunday paper as there will be a lot of manufacturer coupons included in this insert.
Also if you have a gift card for a place you never go you can sell it online to places like plastic jungle and get yourself some cash for whatever you need it for. They will usually offer you a little less than what it is worth and you have 3 ways to be paid for it. You can choose Paypal, an Amazon gift card, or cash.
One last thing before I go. If you have a smart phone be sure to use the coupon applications also to cut down on printing or carrying around some stores coupons. A

So close to Christmas
With it being so close to Christmas it made me think about inexpensive and easy to send gifts and it made me think of magazines. A subscription is a great gift that people can get all year and really is inexpensive to the giver. I gave my mom two subscriptions for Mothers Day and she still thanks me for them. So for all you last minute shoppers here is a great deal of $5 off of magazine subscriptions. Happy Hunting!

Sometimes we all need a little direction...
I picked this up about a month ago for the same price. I love it and honestly do not know how I ever lived without it. I am sure it will eventually pay for itself for all the maps I don't need to buy or directions being printed off.
Great Deal on a Garmin!

Save some energy

Hey we can all use a little savings right now. Here is the few small things that I have done in my home to cut my electric bill down about $20 a month. It is really simple. It doesn't really use any extra energy. At first I had to put up post it notes for part of it. First, I started unplugging all extra appliances. No toasters, coffee makers, or toaster ovens plugged into the kitchen and no laptops and other accessories like cell phone chargers plugged into anywhere else. It is amazing how much extra energy they take up. I was shocked when I started.
Next get a programmable thermostat if you don't already have one. You can get one for $20 and after a few months it will have paid for itself. Always change your filter for HVAC system as it really will make it more efficient. And if you have the ability to select what times to have hot water on through your hot water heater use it! It is a great feature and saves quite a bit in the long run.
And last but not least. Open those windows anytime the sun is out so you do not have to run lights. In the evenings run the most efficient light in the house and turn off all the rest. Once you get used to the routine you will really start to see a change in your electric bill.
If you try it and see a difference in your bill let me know!

Sweet price on a laminating machine!
I really need to get my hands on one of these! They are super! It seems that I need to laminate things lately and it so easy to use and at such a great price.
Ideas for things that get laminated: I like to laminate pictures for kids so they can color on them or carry them around without worry.
Also we have a few articles that we reread or just love what they have to say and in order to archive them we laminate them to protect them.

Sundays are fun days!
Well I am trying to decide if I should play with all the craft things I already own or if I should make the voyage to the other side of town and buy new goodies. I tend to want new goodies but realize I have plenty of old goodies. It is a tough decision for anyone who understands the mad addiction that is craft supplies.

Deal of the day for me
Today I did a little it of shopping and found a few deals that I loved. The first one was a very cute crystal butterfly dish from Salvation Army. I love it and it holds my rings while I cook dinner. I paid a whopping $0.50 for it. I know crazy right? Then it was off to IKEA where I always buy my dogs water and food bowls. They had them marked down to an amazing $0.25 per bowl from $2.99. I also got a new egg slicer which I feel the need to have. Thats all for today folks. I do have a full day of shopping planned for tomorrow with coupons in tow so who knows what I will get my hands on. Happy Shopping and saving!

Thank You Card #5

Great just because card
This card is a great one just to say hi! I made this card using pattern paper from the paper studio at Hobby Lobby. I used ribbon from American craft to create a divide. I then stamped a cup of cocoa, or tea depending on your outlook, on a solid piece of cardstock by DCWV. I added a few buttons and gems for a little something extra.

I miss you card
I made this card using solid cardstock from DCWV and the pattern paper is from K & Company. I used the fiskars circle cutter for the circles and a Martha Stewart edge punch for the edges of the cream piece of cardstock. The I miss you stamp is from the dollar store. I then embellished the card with pearl drops.

Friends Card
I made this card using a patterned piece of paper from the K & Company stack from JoAnns. I used a corner punch to add a little something to the edges. I then added a solid piece of DCWV cardstock in the center. I added a sticker phrase that says "Side by side or miles apart, friends are always close to the heart" I then added a little gem in the middle of the words. Last but not least I added 3 prima flowers to the top with regular brads you can pick up anywhere.

You're my Cup of Cocoa Card 2
Here is another card using the You're my cup of cocoa stamp. The pattern paper is a single sheet made by paper studio from Hobby Lobby. The solid cardstock is from DCWV. The charm is from a bead store called Brazos Collection. They are the cutest little tea cup charms. I got both the ribbon and the gems from the dollar spot from Michaels.

I used cardstock from the Blossoms and butterflies stack by DCWV. Once I cut that down to size I added a Prima flower with a sparkle brad that I got from Michaels. I then cut a small square piece of paper and stamped it with a stamp I got from JoAnns for a buck. I love small stamps that are a dollar and say simple phrases! I then added a few metallic gems that I picked up at JoAnns. Love it!

I made this card using a blank pre folded card from DCWV spring cards. The patterned paper is from a DCWV paper value stack that was originally 8x8. I then added regular white ribbon that you can pick up anywhere then added a little card stamped Hello Sunshine and then added the dragonflies and the gems. I actually love the Hello Sunshine stamp from stampabilities as you can see I used it on my last card that I posted.

Hello Sunshine Card!
This card was made using patterned paper from K & Company. The flowers were from a mixed pack I got on clearance at Hobby Lobby for a dollar. The brad is from a multi pack from Michaels. They come in many different colors. The ribbon in adhesive ribbon I picked up from JoAnns. The stamp was from Hobby Lobby and was made by stampabilities. I added gems to each side for a nice little touch. Thanks for looking.

Sympathy Card
I made this card using patterned and solid paper that are both from the paper studio stack at Hobby Lobby. I used a paper cutter to cut the designed blue piece of paper. I added some gems to the corner of the blue paper than stamped it with the sympathy design clear stamp that I got from Michaels. This is a very pretty and simple card.

Thank You #5
The solid cardstock used in this card is from DCWV. The pattern paper is from the K & Company. The butterfly is from chipboard that I got from Michaels. It was 19.99 but I waited for one of the half of coupons and got it for 9.99. I took an old ink pad and drug it over the butterfly to give it a pink tint. I used a flower from Prima and a brad from the Brides collection to add accent. I then stamped thank you with a stamp I got out of a rubber stamp pack from Michaels.

Celebrate Card #2
This is a very simple subtle card. I used a small piece of pattern paper I got out of a scrapbook pack from big lots. I then used a clear stamp I got from big lots also to stamp celebrate. I then used a long line stamp to stamp the bottom of the card. The solid cardstock is from a JoAnns pack of scrap paper. I then used 3 paper flowers with a pearl brad from Brides collection at Michaels. Pretty easy but very pretty!

Make a Wish Card
This was a fun a simple card to make. I used a pre folded card. I then cut a piece of embossed paper from the embossed DCWV stack and took an old ink pad that was running out of ink and drug it all over the piece I cut so there is color where it is embossed. I then added a solid piece of cardstock from DCWV and added Make a Wish on it. I got the stamp from JoAnns in their dollar spots. I then just added a few little gem embellishments from Michaels.

Lovely Green Necklace
I made this necklace using green stone chips that I got from Brazos Collection in Georgetown, TX. It is where I buy all of my beads. They have the best selection. The green crosses are also from there. The chips were $3 and the crosses were $4. I used spacers in between the crosses and the chips. It is a great spring and summer necklace. I love to wear it to work and when I am out running errands.

Thank You Card #4
The solid cardstock is DCWV. The patterned paper is from an individual sheet by paper studio that I got from Hobby Lobby. The thank you stamp was from a set of foam stamps I got at Michaels. The gems are value pack gems from the jewelry department at JoAnns. This is a really simply yet beautiful card that you could make to say thank you. The part that took the longest is picking out what patterned paper I should use! Have a good day!

Happy Birthday Card 3
This happy birthday card was made using patterned paper from K & Co I picked up at Hobby Lobby. As always is the case I used a pre folded card from a pack I got from Craft Warehouse in Oregon. The tan ribbon is american craft ribbon that you can pick up at any craft store. The flower are from the stocking stuffer bins at Michaels. The stamp I got from JoAnns and was a whopping dollar. The solid cardstock is of course by DCWV and the brads are CK express. It is a nice handmade way to say Happy Birthday!
